THORNBY PARK'S COST TO DELTONANS COULD BE $10 - 20 MILLION

WHO WANTS THORNBY?

Enterprise Preservation Society (EPS), a special interest group, appear to be  more interested in the preservation of their Enterprise history than they are your wallet:

On their official web site, the Enterprise Preservation Society said "...the city of Deltona, led by newly-elected city commissioner Janet Deyette, a long-time Thornby supporter, voted unanimously to investigate the possibility of the city's buying the property for use as a park for Deltona and West Volusia residents. We couldn't be happier with the outcome of so much effort and so many years of hard work."

Kevin Finn

Regarding his Thornby presentation to the Deltona commission, Kevin Finn, Enterprise Preservation Society board member, replied "I do believe my math was incorrect" when recently shown that his Thornby figures were misleading.  Finn also said "I never claimed to have the facts" when discussing how much the Thornby park would cost Deltonans.

Mayor Mulder

Who wants an amphitheater built on the Thornby property?  Mayor Mulder and the City's planner want one:

Sandy Walters

Coordinator of the Friends of Thornby, also a heavy supporter of both Janet Deyette's and Mayor Mulder's campaigns. According to the Volusia County property appraiser she is an Enterprise resident whose nearly 4,000 square foot home with separate boat house and dock is near the Thornby property and required a wetlands permit. She doesn't live in Deltona but she appears to have strong expectations of your Mayor:

Carol Aymar

Board member and past-president of the Enterprise Preservation Society and supporter of both Janet Deyette's and Mayor Mulder's campaigns, lives in Enterprise and does not pay property taxes to Deltona.  But Ms. Aymar was quoted by a local paper in 2004 as saying "We're expecting continued challenges until there is a change in power in Deltona."

This email was sent the day after a heated Deltona commission meeting that was centered around the City's controversial banning of Lloyd Marcus's paintings from City Hall.  Ms. Aymar did not speak at the meeting, and the commission did not discuss Thornby.  Instead the meeting was filled with citizens upset over the City's censorship.
