HUZHU IN DELTONA:
ED GABLE
3-time unsuccessful Volusia/Deltona candidate
2007: Failed candidate Ed Gable broadcasts postcard with
unsubstantiated allegations
Just before Ed Gable sent this postcard out to voters, the Orlando Sentinel
reported "Gable said he will try to counter the ad with a newspaper ad
late this week. "It's going to say Gable stands for this and there has
been some slime scattered throughout and it's past history," he said."
(never did Gable quote the alleged lies):

When Ed Gable gave $5,300 for a Presidential Roundtable, he thought he
was paying for a dinner and other events in Washington with President
Bush and lawmakers in 2003.
But Bush didn't show, and Gable, now a Democrat running for a
nonpartisan seat on the Deltona City Commission, said he didn't
realize until this week that he had made a political contribution to
the National Republican Congressional Committee.
During an increasingly hot race for District 2, decisions Gable made
decades ago in another state have gotten tough scrutiny from politicos
and from Republican Herb Zischkau, his opponent in the Nov. 6
election.
Gable recently switched from no-party to Democrat and is being
supported politically and financially by a prominent area Democrat,
Deltona Mayor Dennis Mulder. Gable, who says party labels don't matter
in this race, said his foes are slinging mud.
"This is old-time stuff they are trying to use as a slime campaign
because otherwise they can't win," Gable said.
Gable's foes have criticized his donation to the GOP before filing for
personal bankruptcy in 2004. He also filed for bankruptcy about 20
years ago in Pennsylvania.
His foes have latched onto a 2002 civil court ruling against Gable. A
judge declined to name Gable as guardian to his elderly aunt and uncle
because of his poor financial history and an admitted alcohol problem,
which he said he conquered almost 20 years ago.
That court case is featured in an attack ad Zischkau mailed to voters
several days ago.
"How can we expect Ed Gable to be a guardian over Deltona's tax
dollars . . . when he couldn't even become a guardian in a simple
case?" argued Jamie Jessup, Zischkau's campaign adviser.
...Gable said he will
try to counter the ad with a newspaper ad late this week.
"It's going to say Gable stands for this and there has been some slime
scattered throughout and it's past history," he said."

...and now for something really scary:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN DELTONA
In his own words:
Ed Gable

Ed Gable resigned from the Police Department,
because of his drinking problem.
Ed Gable lost control of his children - they left Ed, along with his
wife.
Ed Gable filed for bankruptcy, again because of his drinking problem.
The court ruled that Ed Gable was not to be awarded
guardianship of another - again because of his long history of
alcohol treatment and bankruptcy.
Yes - it's sad, no doubt, and hopefully Ed will overcome his
alcoholism, but still it is not a good idea for Ed to be steering the City
of Deltona.
After 30 years, most people learn from their mistakes. What about
Ed?
Ed Gable wanted to be elected as
your commissioner
to represent
YOU.
Dennis Mulder supported
Gable's bid for office.
Scary.
