Volusia County Councilwoman Pat Northey to Run for Elections Supervisor

Long time Volusia County Council member Pat Northey has filed paperwork to run for the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections position in 2012. Northey, a Deltona resident, cites her 20 years in business management and her extensive leadership roles in the public sector as the attributes that qualify her for the position of Supervisor of Elections. “The Supervisor of Elections position is a ministerial position, not a political one. I have managed people, policies, and procedures in the work environment. I’ve honed my administrative skills through 17 years of service on the County Council and my experience as a Director in hospital administration, said Northey. And I have a record of accomplishment in the public sector that includes leading organizations that are as diverse as the Volusia County Council, The Boys & Girls Club, Leadership West Volusia, Four Townes Rotary, Healthy Start, and the St. Johns River Alliance.”

Northey cites her passion for excellence as a driving force in her life and in her public service. And says that as the Supervisor, job one should always be insuring fair, equitable, and transparent elections. “The voter must have confidence in the election process; that our elections are competently run, error free and free from partisanship,” said Northey. She lists as her goals for the Elections Department:

  • Protect the integrity of the ballot;

  • provide excellent service; and

  • promote education and outreach.

Northey has been married to Ed, a Vietnam Veteran, for 42 years. She has two sons, Edward and Erik and three grandchildren. They have lived in Deltona since 1974. Pat got her start in public service as a young mother volunteering in organizations that served children, the schools, and the community. She has served on various boards and committee throughout her public life. Please see Pat’s bio on the Volusia County web site for details on her extensive service and community acknowledgement.
