A disgusting and slanderous email just went out courtesy of the good ol' boys accusing me of being a felon.

This accusation leads back to 2005 and is totally false.

This man and all of his emails from "truth@deltonabonafide" are borderline slander and they know it.  They send emails in order to create unrest in the city and to make residents worry.  Rest easy, they are all lies from what appears to be a truly sick man, who is simply a puppet for the good ol' boys.

He began this behavior BEFORE I was even elected, while working for my opponent, one of the good ol' boys.

Care to talk to me about the lies or want more information, please call me!  I am very sorry for the embarrassment they attempt to create for the city.

A very overdue letter to the residents of Deltona

I thought a number of times about writing this very letter and decided not to, believing I was taking the high road.  The time for the residents of Deltona to know what is going on in their city is now.  I arrived pretty "green" to politics in 2005 and knew I had a lot to learn.  However I also believed that all people involved in Deltona politics generally wanted what was best for Deltona, I know now that is far from the truth.  My wife and I grew up in Deltona and as grown adults were ready to leave Deltona.  I got the crazy idea that we could change the city instead of leaving the place we always knew as home.  I ran and was obviously successful, BUT NOT REALLY.


I feel it important to take you back to the beginning.  The day I registered to run and before I had even met most Deltona officials I got a phone call, telling me "it was not my turn, and didn't I think I should step aside".  If I stepped aside I would "have a future".  This call came from someone who haunts me still today.  This would be the beginning of a harassment of the most personal nature.  I've always loved and understood politics, but I never thought on the local level such things could occur.  My wife and I have been the subject of the most personal and intimate attacks imaginable, my businesses reported to agencies in "an anonymous way", accused of things only my accusers are guilty of and much more.  Most every day I still deal with attacks that I hope no one in this city ever lives with again.  In summary the one single fact I have taken from this is clear. The good ol' boys weren't ready to give up control of Deltona and were willing to do anything to keep it.  The intent of the voters for positive change in Deltona was clear. The good ol' boys didn't care, Deltona is only a game to them and its residents the pawns.  Keep in mind the good ol' boys club only consists of about 15 or less people.  I am dangerous for them because I didn't need them or want them, nor their money or influence, I knew Deltona needed a fresh start from them and wasn't ever going to let them control me.  I was and will continue to do what I think is best for Deltona always.  I fight them in battle daily and get many encouraging calls and emails from you the normal resident, the one I'm happy to do this job for.

The final straw, which has prompted me to write this letter was this good ol’ boys club is now intentionally putting out BAD information in order to try and scare our Deltona residents.  I understand different points of views and respect good debate, but NEVER did I believe that people would lie to their neighbors about things in order to scare them into their political battle.

For those that don't know, I was elected in 2005, but like any government, it takes a majority vote including myself to make changes or real policy shifts.  This did not happen until the next election in 2007.  I sat on a commission for two years with no hope of making the changes I had promised.  The only thing I could do is work hard to change that.  I delivered on that in 2007 during the election and for less than a year the changes that should have dated back to 2005 are just now occurring. This is why things seems so ridiculous in Deltona politics, the good ol' boys really just lost power this year. 

Can you think of a reason not to let voters decide on a police department for the largest city in Volusia?
my answer:  other than politicians protecting other politicians, I can't answer this either, but I feel Deltona deserves a choice


Can you think of a reason why all of Deltona roads shouldn't have been  redone years ago and Deltona has almost totally failed infrastructure?
my answer: I feel it should all have been done years ago, leadership then didn't want to spend, now it has cost us at least triple to do long overdue improvements.

Ever wonder why Deltona has no shops, retail, or restaurants?
My answer:  The good ol' boys wanted no change in their retirement community.  In the mean time, Orange City saw the type of Development Deltona so desperately needs in the 90's, while Deltona was building more homes and no infrastructure to support it.

Wonder why Deltona doesn't have the same sense of place or community as other cities?
The city and the residents were keep out of the "good ol' boys club", cause they knew best, they were right and we were wrong! ( in their opinion)


The truth is there is one single action that would return complete order to the city, its politics would calm and the storm THEY created would be over.  That action is turn the city back over to them.  They have gotten me to the point of surrender a few times, then the residents give me more political capital to carry on, like the 2007 election. Understand that there has not been one idea from my term in office that they haven't attacked or made a positive into a negative. I know this letter will be torn apart, thrown in my face, etc..  That doesn't bother me, I am use to their inhumane tactics.  I haven't named names simply because I have more respect than they.  The people I wanted to read the letter are you! The ones who wonder, what the heck is going on out there and say to themselves this is crazy!

I hope this sheds some-light on things and It is impossible to address every situation in a brief letter, but I try to always be available to talk.  I also want you to know this is not a complaint or whinning, but meant to inform only.  I hope this offers all of us some perspective.

If you truly feel the allegations are lies, then help me to urge Sheriff Ben Johnson and State Attorney John Tanner to uphold the law in Deltona with regard to the two allegations of felony perjury.  Let’s allow the State to decide whether or not you lied under oath during the course of an official proceeding.

Please understand, Dennis, that I operate by my own volition – I am nobody’s puppet.  Those who know me know this to be true – I have a mind of my own and I don’t take orders from anyone.  I have never worked for any of your opponents, nor have I acted as an operative for any of your opponents - not in 2005 and not now.  In 2005 I had a Doug Horn sign in my yard and one on my car, but that is the extent to which I was part of Mr. Horn’s campaign.  It is extremely rare that Mr. Horn and I communicate – then and now.

Your paranoid assertions are grossly inaccurate, to the point of perhaps even being delusional.

How did you arrive at your conclusion that there is some great conspiracy against you? Who is this ‘they’ that you keep referring to as ‘The good ‘ol boys” and how is it that they are responsible for the citizen unrest in Deltona?

Have you considered the possibility that the people simply are not happy with what has become of their City since you took office?  You can’t blame me for that!  As you once proclaimed while soliciting for votes, “I have a great many platform issues that I will be addressing in my campaign, but leading them all will be ACCOUNTABILITY. The commission must hold City Management, staff, and most importantly other commissioners accountable for actions and decisions."

Dennis, you are obviously very confused and upset about an imaginary group, that you call the good ‘ol boys, that you feel is out to get you.  Perhaps a leave of absence is in order so you can get your head together.  Better yet – do the residents a favor and resign.
